The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group & CrossTown Fitness Team Up to Open ‘The Daily Feed’ Bringing Fit Food to the West Loop

May 16, 2013

Between opening a bar with the gooiest cheese fries and succulent wings to a Quad Cities pizza joint and popular bakery, one wouldn’t think the owners of The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group would have a health food spot next on their ‘to open’ list. Teaming up with CrossTown Fitness, a boutique gym which made its debut at 1031 W. Madison on May 1, lies The Daily Feed, a bright, upbeat, modern café creating simple, grab-and-go options to fuel one’s body.

The perfect partnership began when CrossTown Fitness owner, Charlie Graff, along with his friends and the owners of The Fifty/50 Restaurant Group (The Fifty/50, Roots Handmade Pizza, West Town Bakery & Diner, Homestead, and The Berkshire Room), Greg Mohr and Scott Weiner, discussed opening a fast casual health spot within the specialty gym. “We’re excited about creating good food for people with very specific diets, challenges, and personal goals,” Mohr said. “The Daily Feed elevates nutritious dining with the ultimate in convenience for even the busiest of people,” comments Weiner. Mohr and Weiner, very often splurging on the decadent items from their other restaurants, were ready to expand their offerings to the healthy side of dining as they continue to grow their presence in the West Loop neighborhood.

The menu at The Daily Feed offers an array of diet-specific lean and fatty proteins, salads, wraps, quinoa bowls and breakfast items made with high-quality and fresh ingredients. Gym-goers or passersby can choose from entrees like Seasoned Shrimp Skewers to Turkey Meatloaf along with salads including the Cobb Salad and quick snacks like the Trail Mix Scone and Bean Chips. Guests can sip on an extensive list of customized house made protein shakes, smoothies, and coffees. All of the menu items are conveniently prepared in a grab-and-go style for neighborhood residents and CrossTown Fitness members, while also incorporating fiber-rich ingredients, slow-burning carbs, essential fats, and lean proteins.

The Daily Feed provides fresh and nutritious meal choices and snacks to energize people before or after their workout, during a midday pick-me-up or light dinner.  The café has seating for 20 guests as well as outdoor seating for 16 guests. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more details about The Daily Feed plus the complete menu, visit here.
